Assessment

There are times when a parent, school, or treating therapist needs an outside perspective to provide a complete picture of a child’s strengths and challenges.  Dr. Lemke is highly trained in completing psychological assessments of children beginning in early childhood through young adulthood.  These assessments can address concerns about development, learning, behavior, and emotions.

Every assessment is modified to suit the needs of the child and family.  In general, you can expect an assessment to consist of an initial intake session with Dr. Lemke to discuss your concerns and determine the needs of the child and family.  Children will participate in 2-3 testing sessions.  The length of each session and the number of sessions will vary depending on the child’s age and parental concerns.  A parent-child observation and/or a school observation may also be recommended.

Following the completion of the testing sessions, all test measures will be scored and interpreted by Dr. Lemke.  Parents will be invited back to hear about the results and recommendations of the evaluation.  Following the parent conference, a written report will be completed and sent to the family.  Dr. Lemke is available to meet with other professionals to discuss the results or to support the family at IEPs or 504 meetings.

Assessments can be completed for concerns related to:
  • Learning and academics
  • Attention, focus, and concentration
  • Development
  • Autism
  • Standardized testing accommodations
  • Social skill deficits
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Giftedness
