SERVICES OVERVIEW
Parent Education
Parent Education information and/or classes along with community-based activities have been included in The Life Skills program for purposes of encouraging transference of skills. In order for social skills to transfer from the group therapy session to everyday living experiences, practice along with constructive feedback must occur in the natural environment (home and school settings). Parent reinforcement of skills within the home environment is expected and paramount to the success of the program and ultimate growth of each child.
Consultation
Staff members offer consultation services to parents and educators regarding a variety of social, emotional and/or academic challenges experienced by children in the academic setting. This is an additional service and not part of the child's group.
Social Skills Training Groups
PALS programs are designed for children who exhibit mild challenges. A maximum of 6 children are placed in age equivalent groups and include 14-weekly, 50-minute sessions. A five-week summer program is offered in late June.
